NOMINATIONS FOR TRINITY CATHEDRAL’S 2013 CHAPTER
At the Annual Parish Meeting to be held on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at least four members of the Cathedral’s Parish will be elected to serve on Chapter, the Cathedral’s governing board. Nominations will be received through Monday, December 10, 2012. You may nominate yourself by completing the Chapter Nominee Profile (see link below). You may nominate someone else by asking them to complete the Chapter Nominee Profile. Nominee Profiles must be submitted to the Nominating Committee (c/o Jim Nolan, Cathedral Treasurer) or they can be emailed to treasurer@trinitymiami.org. Questions about expectations of a Chapter Member may be addressed by a member of the Nominating Committee: Dorothy Holmes, Tony Major, Lilly Mena, Victoria Rogers or Jim Nolan.
The following should be considered before agreeing to stand for election:
A candidate for the Chapter:

Is a confirmed communicant in good standing
-
Is regular attendee at Sunday worship and Cathedral events
-
Participates in one or more of the Cathedral’s six ministry areas
-
Is a leader with the ability to motivate people toward a common goal
-
Is keenly interested in the present and future well-being of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and
-
its congregation
-
its clergy and staff
-
its building and grounds
-
the greater church
-
the community
A person serving on the Chapter:
-
Is spiritually attuned
-
Has a basic set of business skills
-
Has a sense of humor
-
Has demonstrated commitment to the work of the Cathedral by giving of time, talent and treasure
-
Has sufficient time to dedicate to the work of the Chapter
-
Has a positive nature, but understands that the Chapter’s work can be difficult
-
Has the courage to speak his/her mind even when his/her positions may be in the minority
A Chapter Member is able and willing:
-
To leave behind constituencies and personal agendas in favor of doing what is best for the Cathedral
-
To share honest opinions and listen to opinions of others with an open heart and mind
-
To accept the greater will
-
To communicate a decision he/she did not initially support with grace, professionalism and integrity
-
To be a good steward of the Cathedral’s resources, both human and financial
-
To know enough of the Cathedral’s history to be buoyed by a strong sense of accomplishment and community, yet not enough to be unwilling to change
-
To understand and be faithful to the concept of confidentiality
A member of the Cathedral Chapter:
-
Is positive and enthusiastic about God’s ministry at Trinity Cathedral, in the City of Miami and the larger church

Is supportive of and trusts the clergy and staff of the Cathedral to do their work and to serve the best interests of the parish, diocese and national Episcopal Church
-
Is aware that whenever two or more are gathered in Jesus’ name, Christ is there also.
