Living in an urban environment makes it a challenge to connect with the earth. Work with this ecumenical group provides a fun and active way to meet others and grow some food.
Help Plant the Community Garden on Sunday October 24, beginning at 1pm. We and other Faith in the City congregations will help plant this season's joint community garden, located at Temple Israel (NE 18th St @ NE 2nd Ave, Miami)
From Temple Israel's website:
Sunday, October 24 1pm
Last year we planted a variety of vegetables in the community garden located behind the temple kitchen. Throughout the south Florida winter, many volunteers came to weed, water and till the garden. From tiny seeds, we were able to provide Lotus House homeless shelter with a large harvest of fresh, organic vegetables to supplement their meals. Join us as members of Faith in the City. Plant the seeds for this year’s crop of vegetables, also to be donated to Lotus House. Women from Lotus House will be with us on October 24th. Please bring your own work gloves and tools. RSVP to Phyllis Littman by phone at 305-573-5900, ext. 405 or plittman@templeisrael.net by October 21st.
