This is the first year that Trinity Cathedral has participated in Give Miami Day, so I thought a little primer on how it works and how we can all be involved would be helpful. 

 

First of all - this is NOT just another fundraising drive.  Give Miami Day is a celebration, a contest, and an opportunity to invest in our City.  

 

We would of course like you to donate - but more than that we would like you to participate in the whole day! This is a tremendous opportunity to make more people in Miami aware of Trinity Cathedral.  The minimum contribution is $25 dollars (this is our donor page - which will be active Thursday http://givemiamiday.org/#npo/trinity-episcopal-cathedral)  — but even if you can’t do that please consider doing some of the below. 

 

Give Miami Day is sponsoring a Street Fair at Marlins Stadium, and Twitter, Instagram and Facebook will be alive with posts and stories about the Good going on in our city.  Please take time to read about all of the wonderful organizations working in our city and how they (and you!) can make a difference. 

 

In addition to the money contributed by donors, each donation is partially matched by donors.  But that is not all - there is also a long list of prizes that different organizations can win ( https://givemiamiday.org/#prizes) — A few prizes that we could target as a Cathedral would be 1) the 1st gift prize (who ever gets the first gift);  the 2) the most patriotic prize (gifts from the most states) or the 3) 3:05 Cafecito Prize — the Organization that get a gift closest to 3:05.  

 

When you support the Cathedral, or any organization, on Give Miami Day - you are making a mark.  You are changing the narrative about our City. This is not just a city that cares about beaches, parties and image - but that really cares about each other.  Last year more than 3 M was given to Charity on Give Miami Day - and this year it will be even more.  This goes a long way to changing how the rest of the country, and the world, see us.
